RAW, GRITTY, DARK, INTENSE, SEXY, HOT, SICK, TWISTED everything all dark gritty lovers need/crave/want/seek this author delivered those feels time and time again!!" - Kitty Kat's Crazy About Books

Set Me Free is a dark romance
I do not advise anyone who is sensitive to certain subjects or sexual situations to read it as it does contain certain situations.

Set Me Free

Torn and betrayed by her family, Emmalyn is taken and forced to live with her mother and stepfather, who happens to be the leader of one of the biggest sex trafficking rings around.

Thrown into a world of sex and slavery, Emmalyn is roomed with Kodah. A hot-headed boy, whose only weakness is her.

Both lost and tortured in this endless hell, they cling to the hope that one day they will make it out, that one day they will be set free.

When you discover a new literary genre and you love it, it’s hard to get enough of it. You become obsessed and then you search for authors who write that genre. Set me free by M.R. Leahy is the first book of the Bound Forever Series and it could be catalogued as one of the best books of dark romance. Human slavery and trafficking are the main topics of this book. First things that caught my attention were the blurb and the sexy cover.

The story is told by the main characters and it goes smoothly from the past and present. The author shows us a world plagued by the worst kind of people who enjoys exercising pain on children. These children are trained to be sexual slaves. In a perfect world it’s supposed that children must be protected by their parents but there are nasty exceptions.

The heroine is taken from the safety of her home by her mother in order to be trained as a sexual slave. She is forced to lie about her true origin so her stepfather could add more value to her. She represents power to him and fear to his competitors. Being Nixon’s daughter would not grant any privileges to which nobody is entitled to that place. On the contrary her training will be harder. She will share a cell with her self-declared protector.

When Kodah met Emmalyn he instantly proclaimed himself as her protector. She represents the light he tough he lost. She is an angel kept in hell, his hope, his reason to get out of that place. He will commit himself to set her free and keep all the promises made. He will not let her alone.

“I’m going to get us out of here, Emmy, and when I do, I’m going to keep you”.

Even though everything seems dark, they will have an unexpected help. Kodah will not have much time to plan their escape. Emmalyn’s debut is near. And when he discovers she will be sold to the best bidder he almost lose hope.
“Open your eyes, baby, don’t fucking look away. I need to see your light”.

Emmy is a stronger young woman. She managed to keep her light even though all the pain she suffered during her training. Hope never abandons her innocent heart. Kodah and the promise of a future with him are sufficient reasons to continue supporting all class of humiliations.

Kodah and Emmy are wounded souls made for each other. Together will fight to be free and heal every wound.

“Thank you, Emmy. Thank you for giving me your light”.

Set me free is the kind of book you don’t want to put it down until you finish it. It’s freaking intense, full of twists that will have you at the edge. You will feel a mix of feelings. The plot is good and although it touches a sensitive subject it does not fall into a cliché, it’s consuming. The way this book was written makes you feel the character’s feelings, going from rage to hope. If you haven’t read dark romance, this book is perfect to start on. You will feel the adrenaline rush through your veins.

When I finished this book, I almost had a heart attack.  Megan has a new fan. Her writing is deliciously addictive.

For Emmalyn and Kodah being set free meant living in the real world away from the clutches of her step-father. It meant living a life they always dreamed about together.

But it’s never that easy, is it?

 Life is cruel and untamed.

And not everything in their past can be forgotten. Nor is it as settled as they hoped.

With their new-found freedom comes challenges no one should ever face. Separated by memory but together at heart Emmy and Kodah must find their way back to each other so they can finally live their happily ever after.

So they can once and for all be set free.

For a bookworm like me starting a new series is the meaning of happiness and when any of your favourite writers announces the release of the next book in their series you tend to stalk them in their social media. Reading Set me free left me really anxious and I patiently count the days from the announcement of the release of the second book of the Bound Forever Series.

Emmy and Kodah’ story continue in Set us free. After escaping from hell, they will be both lost. Emmy’s confusion and loss of memory will lead them to take different ways.

The human mind is so powerful that after a great loss it blocked and forced us to forget and makes the pain bearable. That’s what Emmy will experience. Forgetting her past let her unprotected from threats but she has Buck and Drifter. To start living when you do not remember your past makes difficult to have a future.

“Our past is something nightmares are made of, our present is full of stalking and secrecy, and our future is fragile and unknown”.

Kodah will leave Emmy to heal. She does not remember him but he must keep his promise to be for her when she needs it. He will be her shadow, protecting her until she recovers her memory.

“That girl holds my entire reason in the palm of her hands and she doesn’t even know it, but she will”.

Can love survive to pain and loss? One might think that after the humiliations that Emmy and Kodah suffered, they won’t be able to love freely. Love conquers all. It will take 5 years before Emmy recovers her memory. During that time Kodah will build a future for her, hoping to be forever with her until Emmy’s past hit her harder.

“Everything around us tints in reds and violets, lust and love. I have never seen anything so beautiful, muscles, tattoos next to scars... he’s perfect”.

A person from their past will threaten Emmy’s safety, forcing her to remember her past. Drifter ad Buck will do anything to protect the girl who saves both. She will be frustrated with herself because her heart and soul recognize the stranger who follows her and it hurts her no to remember him.

“I pour everything into that kiss; my frustration, my fears, my hopes and my love... I give it all. And he takes it, begging for more”.

Fate has prepared more things for them before the can have their happily ever after. Their family and friends will support them and loss will follow them again. However karma will take its price.

“They see the true love we have for each other. They see the light in the dark”

This book as the first in the series is told by the main characters and there are also included some POV’s from other characters like Drifter, Buck, JB and Bailey. All the characters are complex and the pace is steady. This book is like a Russian roulette for your feelings. It’s full of darkness, nostalgic, hope redemption and intense and well written sex scenes. I highly recommend you to read this baby. It’s a must read that you do not want to miss.

An advice: don’t miss JB and Bailey because the next book will be about their story.
